The Lost One is a light Hierarchy infantry unit created by mutating and torturing criminals and outcasts.
General
Resembling the stereotypical "Grey" alien, the tiny Lost One has a massive head, glowing eyes, and hunched body with spindly limbs and claws. Attached to the body is a large collar and, like the other Hierarchy aliens, Lost One's possess three fingers and toes. Lost Ones are apparently insane, given both their in game discription and habit of chuckling/giggling when told to attack. Lost One's are also apparently expendable, since even the casualty-conscious Orlok used them as suicide units against Novus blackhole crates.
Campaign
Lost Ones have the distinct honor of being the first Hierarchy unit encountered in the story and a group of three attack Colonel Moor's task force upon entering Washington D.C. Later, Lost One's attempt to bomb the President's Ambulance during the escape to a nearby human military base. Lost One's are then found throughout the campaigns, generally being deployed with the more durable Grunts.
In the Hierarchy Campaign, Lost Ones are available from the first mission onwards, with one mission requiring they phase past Novus defenses and bomb Singularity Weapon Crates, killing both themselves and
every Novus unit in the area. (Note that in Patch 3 they no longer have their plasma bombs or phase for this mission, requiring the use of Orlok's siege mode instead to set off the crates.)
Tactical Application
Lost One's can greatly benefit from low-tier research, potentially gaining phasing, powerful plasma bombs, and a damage over time effect (Quantum-1, Assault-1, and Mutagen-1 respectively). Further upgrades from the Quantum Branch and Mutagen Branch further increase the Lost One's firepower. The Lost-one is armed with a light plasma pistol that is able to attack both air and ground targets. This pistol is especially effective against air-craft. The Lost One is also the only Hierarchy unit that is reasonably effective against walkers, particularly when given their plasma bombs (18 will destroy a Science Walker) and Quantum Ordnance, which makes their plasma rounds deal splash damage to nearby hard points. Lost Ones are the only Hierarchy infantry that can be crushed by vehicles, making units such as Conquerors or Brutes an excellent counter.
